Volunteer Opportunities

The Winter Club of St. Catharines would not exist without its volunteers and we are always looking for volunteers to enhance our club. There are several volunteer opportunities available for skaters and their families depending on the program each skater is in.

CanSkate Families

Any parent, guardian or adult family member, willing to help out is always welcome! Please let any board member know or contact us at [email protected]. Some of the opportunities are listed below.

StarSkate, Test Stream Families and Adult Skate

Upon registration in the Starskate, Test Stream, or Adult programs , families are asked to post a Volunteer bond in the form of a post dated cheque for the following April, for the value of $120.00. Upon the completion of, or the equivalent of 12 hours of volunteer time, the cheque will be returned.

It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to sign up for volunteer activities. The volunteer hours must be completed by March of the current skating season.

Please see a number of volunteer opportunities below as well as this link  Volunteer Options Chart 2017-18If you are interested in volunteering please contact Colleen or email the club email at [email protected]

Fundraisers: The Winter Club hopes to participate in several other fundraising events throughout the season to offset some of our costs throughout the year! We are always looking for new and innovative fundraising ideas.

  • Promotional days coordinator – organizing tag days outside of local businesses and stores
  • Promotional days volunteers
  • Bingo
  • Bake Sales  -providing items or working the sale

Other volunteer options such as donating prizes for our raffles (eg. gift basket, tickets to sporting events, gift cards) will be negotiated depending upon the value of the prize. Please contact [email protected] if you wish to donate.

Program Assisting: Our CanSkate program owes much of its success to our dedicated Program assistants. If you have basic skating skills and are interested in volunteering on our learn-to-skate sessions, please contact us at [email protected].

Competition: Skating clubs from across the province send individuals to volunteer at local area competitions.  If you are interested in volunteering for a competition, please contact us at [email protected].
