The Winter Club of St. Catharines assumes no responsibility for any accident, loss or injury that may arise from any cause during skating programs. Skaters will not be allowed on the ice unless this form is completed and payment in full has been received.

The Winter Club of St. Catharines reserves the right to adjust the schedule as necessary. Session numbers are limited and registrations are on a first come basis.

Refunds will not be granted after the 2nd week of programming unless a medical certificate is received. All refunds granted are pro-rated (from time of refund request date) less $50.00/skater administrative fee and the Skate Canada Membership fee. Classes canceled due to inclement weather, arena closure or other unforeseeable events are not refundable nor are makeup sessions available. Make up sessions and refunds are also NOT provided for any missed classes due to illness or vacations. All refund requests must be submitted in writing to the Winter Club Board of Directors for approval at teamwinterclub@gmail.com.

A CSA approved hockey helmet is mandatory for ALL skaters at or below a CanSkate Stage 5 level regardless of age. The helmet (must not be expired) and the cage is optional, but recommended. No skater at or under this level will be allowed on the ice without a helmet. Bicycle, ski,skateboard and all purpose helmets are NOT allowed (even if they have a CSA sticker).

Cheques are made payable to “The Winter Club of St. Catharines”. All NSF cheques will be subject to a $40.00 administration fee.

Is mandatory fee that is charged to each skater annually (Sept. 1– Aug. 31) by Skate Canada. It ensures that the skater has insurance while on the ice and supports Skate Canada’s safety initiatives. It also includes the Skate Ontario and Safe Sport fee. It is non-refundable, non-transferrable, nor can it be pro-rated. Once paid for the year, skaters will not be charged the fee again when registering for subsequent programs during the skating season at any Skate Canada skating club.

Siblings (persons living in the same household, siblings/parents) and skaters who skate more than 2 days a week are eligible for program fee discounts. All applicable discounts are applied automatically during the registration process.

Email and Social Media (Facebook, Instagram) are our primary sources to keep you informed of ice schedule changes and various events the Skating club holds. Please ensure that we always have a current and valid email address. Should your email address change, please update your profile on Uplifter. The email address used is the one in your Uplifter account. You have the option of adding a secondary email address as well in your Uplifter Account.

I understand that I am participating in the activities of The Winter Club of St. Catharines and hereby release and forever discharge The City of St Catharines, Seymour-Hannah Sports & Entertainment Centre and The Winter Club of St. Catharines and their agents, being all coaches, directors, officers, volunteers, members, staff successors and/or assignees of and from all claims, damages, actions or causes of action arising by reason of my participation in skating or other club activities and from all claims or demands whatsoever in law or in equity which I, my heir, executors, administrators, or assignees can, shall or may have because of such participation. I also acknowledge and hereby consent to the use of my biography and likeness on or in connection with any television or radio program, video/DVD, print media, social media or the advertising and publicizing of any program as may be designated by the Winter Club of St. Catharines and waives all rights to remuneration or otherwise in connection with the above.

The Winter Club of St. Catharines may take photos and videos of its skaters, coaches, Board members, volunteers, PA’s and parents to promote or highlight events that are happening at the club. These photos and videos may be posted, but are not limited to our website, Facebook, Instagram, advertising and newsletter. The Winter Club of St. Catharines will use integrity, sensitivity and fair judgement when selecting items to post to our various media outlets. As a courtesy, your skater may excuse themselves from a photo should they not wish to be a part of it.

Skaters will be respectful to all participants on the ice. Racism, sexism, foul language, bullying, dangerous behaviour, abusive or aggressive behaviour – including but not limited to kicking, punching or picking holds in the ice, will not be tolerated. Pushing, tripping, horseplay, tag, racing or intentional interference with other skaters is not permitted on the ice. Skaters will follow proper Ice Etiquette and the “Right of Way” rules while on the ice. Failure to comply with these rules may lead to removal from the ice. Skaters will always conduct themselves with good sportsmanship and integrity.

At all times parents/guardians shall be respectful and courteous to all skaters, coaches, arena staff, patrons at the arena and Winter Club Board Members/Volunteers. Parents shall refrain from behaviours or comments which are profane, insulting, harassing, sexist, racist, abusive, disrespectful or otherwise offensive. Violence, hostility and bullying are never permitted. Parents shall emphasize the importance of values like sportsmanship, respect, cooperation, fair competition and teamwork to their child. Parents will not disturb coaches while they are on the ice in lessons.

Skaters from another club who have a current Skate Canada Membership or Winter Club skaters needing extra practice sessions may skate as a guest at the Winter Club of St. Catharines.Skaters must pay a fee of $30.00/session and is limited to 3 guest skates per session, unless the session is full. Skaters must pay the fee and sign in with a Board Member prior to going on the ice. Skaters currently skating at the Winter Club will be charged a $20 fee.
